Decarbonizing the Industrial Sector

10:54

We are witnessing one of the greatest transformations of our time – it’s the dawn of a new energy era. The need for energy is increasing but roughly 770 million people still lack to access to regular electricity, according to the world bank. At the same time decarbonization is one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Achieving the decarbonization targets while keeping power generation reliable and affordable is possible but it requires a stepwise approach. To enable the influx of renewables in the grid we still need rotating equipment – preferably on fossil-free fuels like hydrogen. And just as renewables need gas turbines we as leaders of the industry and society need to work together to make it happen, as for instance in the Zero Emission Hydrogen Turbine Center. Speaker Hans Holmström, VP of the Industrial Gas Turbine Business, Siemens Energy
